Meet our people

Feyona Dijkhuis

Hi Feyona, what’s your role and what does a typical workday look like for you?

I’m a Product Owner. A typical workday usually starts with a daily meeting with my development team. We discuss recent changes and who’s working on which tasks. If I’m at the office, I usually grab a cup of tea around 9:30, the perfect moment to bump into colleagues from other teams.

The rest of my day mostly consists of meetings, both internal and external, where we talk about improvements and updates to our application. I also spend a lot of time working out ideas: how we’re going to build new features and what problems they’ll solve for our users.

Something I really enjoy is occasionally sitting with other teams in the building. It’s a great way to hear fresh ideas and discover what others are working on, I truly recommend it to everyone.

How would you describe the atmosphere within your team?

Our team is very mixed, and that’s exactly what makes it fun. We have some experienced colleagues who know the application inside and out and have been with Intus for years. And there are also new team members, like myself, who don’t know everything yet but are super enthusiastic about the product and eager to make it better. That mix creates a great dynamic.

I really feel like part of a big group of people with different disciplines. Three words that describe our team vibe well are: quality-driven, variety, and collaboration. Everyone values quality and we complement each other well. Now that I think about it, I’m almost tempted to make football scarves for the core team with “Hard Core” on them, haha!

What makes working at Intus different from other organizations?

Before this, I worked at a start-up, a very close-knit group of people, but in a very different phase. Intus is bigger and more professional, yet it has managed to maintain a great balance. Everyone gets along well and the work-life balance is really excellent. There’s time to have fun with your colleagues, time to work hard, and time to head home at a reasonable hour.

You can also work from home when needed, which is super important to me. We’re not too big, not too small, just the right size to plan fun activities and social events without them feeling forced.

What’s something that’s typical of Intus?

Mondays and Tuesdays often feel like holidays because there’s usually someone celebrating a birthday and bringing treats. Everyone drops by for a cup of coffee. Even if you’re not having cake, you still pop in for a quick chat and some socializing.

Then there’s the Intus Update, a kind of monthly meeting that turns out to be more of a comedy show. Everyone comes together and at first, you wonder what’s about to happen, but people ask all kinds of questions and show genuine interest, even in topics you wouldn’t expect. It makes the whole thing really lively.

What project or moment will you never forget?

One of my favorite memories is the ski trip you can join voluntarily. After just two weeks on the job, I had already signed up! There were twelve of us from Intus. On the way back, we duct-taped an iPad to our skis so we could follow a Formula 1 race while driving. In the back of the bus, we had a full-on Formula 1 watch party, it was such a good time!

What advice would you give to someone just starting in your role?

At Intus, you get a lot of freedom to bring in and develop your own ideas. That’s why curiosity and motivation are so important, they really help move Intus forward. You can explore what’s possible here and mix in your own interests. That freedom is one of the biggest perks of this role.
