Meet our people

Dennis Westermann

Dennis, How is it going so far at Swisio?

I’m having the most fun I’ve ever had in a job. I really, really like it. It’s the whole attitude of the company, the mindset of making things work. We always try to find a solution. It’s never “that’s just how it is,” end of story. I feel confident that I can solve problems for our customers, because that’s the culture here. I make my own schedule and I’m able to plan around my personal life. It’s all up to me and how I manage my time.

What would you improve about Swisio?

Honestly, I’d just magically make ten new colleagues appear. That would be amazing.

Do you feel the fact that most colleagues are in the Netherlands?

It doesn’t really matter. It doesn’t feel like a separate team at all. It’s one big company family, the only difference is that one request is in English, and one is in German. It’s really nice to have Patrick on board too. Everyone is soaking up his knowledge.

You travel with your colleagues a lot and go out for dinner. What’s that like?

After work, it’s so nice to talk about everyday life. It feels like hanging out with friends. It’s really a friendly atmosphere. We go out with the boys, and it’s always a good time. I also spent a lot of time with Florenz at the beginning, since we were working with the same clients. We really got to know each other.

How does the company differ from other German companies?

At Swisio, you can’t really hide or just sit things out. We get things done, efficiently, and that requires taking responsibility. You need to enjoy staying on track and being open to learning. That can be really fulfilling. But this isn’t the kind of company where you just shut your laptop at a precise time and call it a day. Everyone is happy to help, but you need to do your part.

What do you like most about the product?

It lets me dive into the details of what the client needs, but it also works in an intuitive way. It just makes sense. There are so many things running smoothly in the background that you don’t even notice, and that’s what makes it powerful.

Do you notice that it’s originally a Dutch product?

There are a few little things here and there that remind you it’s a Dutch product, but in a charming way. It adds character.

What do you like about working with your clients?

The clients that choose us want change. They want innovation. That means the projects we do are with people who are motivated and excited to try something new. In Germany, we’re the adventurous choice in roster software, we’re the unicorn. People choose us because they’re ready to change the way they work.

With your experience, where do you think we’re going?

I think more and more people are going to notice us. The big clients are already coming on board, and once they do, others follow. There’s phenomenal growth, both in Germany and the Netherlands. It’s going to be great. There’s no one else doing what we’re doing. We’re set up for some really huge growth.

If you think about Swisio, what words come to mind?

We’re the relaxed dudes, and we really are. We’re helpful, strong, and just a really good team. It’s incredibly informal. Like, really informal. And it’s not just the cookies.

You travel a lot. What do you enjoy about it?

I like creating consistency, staying in the same hotel, but I also like to wander around and explore. I truly enjoy it. I discover new places all the time. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed, and that hasn’t changed.
